Davie, FL -- For the second straight night Florida Atlantic University lost a tight game as it fell to Delaware State 65-59 in the FAU Tip-Off Classic finale.

The Owls (0-2) held a 37-34 halftime advantage but were out scored 31-22 in the second session.

FAU was clicking on all cylinders in the first half as it was able to able establish a nice offensive flow by working the ball both inside and out. Center Demina Anderson had a string of six straight points beginning at the 11:07 mark as she dropped in 10 first half points. Anderson finished with 12.

The Lady Hornets defense tightened up in the second half as the Owls shot only 23.1 % in the second session.

"I thought we did a good job on offense in the first half as we established the inside-out game, but in the second half we got a little impatient and let their 2-3-zone take us out of what we wanted to do offensively," head coach Chancellor Dugan said.

The Owls took a 44-38 lead in the second half as Missy Glaser buried a three from the corner, stole the ensuing inbound pass and booked another triple from the wing. Glaser led FAU with 13 points on the night.

From that point the Hornets (2-0) went on a 17-5 run in route to secure their second straight victory. Delaware State beat Monmouth 50-44 on Friday.

Tournament MVP Najmah Fautleroy led the Hornets with 14 points. Raquel Collier and Tyrah Lusby each added 10 to help the cause.

Shontavia Williams had 10 points to go along with six rebounds for Florida Atlantic.

The Owls will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Birmingham, AL to participate in the Samford/BSC Classic. FAU will take on Samford on Nov. 25 and battle Birmingham-Southern on the 26. Tip time for both games is set for 6 pm eastern.
