Florida Atlantic University broke its Division I wins record by defeating Lipscomb University 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. FAU's record improves to 22-2, 6-0 A-Sun, breaking the previous wins record set in 2004 at 21-7.
Kelly Paiva (Minas Gerais, Brazil) led the Owls in kills and digs with a double-double. The senior posted 20 kills and 14 digs and finished the match with 23 points. Justine Petry (Trumansburg, NY) followed with 11 kills and posted a .400 hitting percentage and shutdown the Lipscomb offense with four blocks. Janelle Sarauw (St. Thomas, V.I.) added five blocks of her own from the right side.
Casey LaRocca (St. Louis, MO) finished with a match-high 41 assists and added five kills and seven digs.
The Bisons (10-15, 5-2 A-Sun) were led by Cara Wilber with 14 kills. Defensively, Ann Mullins finished with 18 digs and Wilber completed the double-double with 10 digs as Lipscomb fell 30-27, 30-25, 30-20.
The Owls hit the road again next weekend when the team heads to Jacksonville to take on North Florida and Jacksonville. Earlier this season FAU defeated the Ospreys 3-1.
