BOCA RATON, FL - Anders Granstad was named Player of the Week by SoccerFLA.com on Wednesday for his efforts in last week's game against Jacksonville. The award goes to the top collegiate male player from the state of Florida.
The senior from Oslo, Norway was just one second from a shutout victory over Jacksonville, Sunday. JU pressured Granstad and the FAU defense for much of the second half, forcing him to make several acrobatic saves. He finished with five stops and a 2OT victory, 2-1 over the Dolphins.
His effort allowed FAU to pick up a win in their first conference game of the season. Granstad holds a 1.55 goals-against-average, including three shutouts. He currently holds the Owl career record for keeper shutouts with 10. He has played every second of every game in goal for FAU in 2005.
This marks the second honor Granstad has received for last week's play. He was named Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
