Women's Swimming Opens on Saturday

Florida Atlantic University's women's swim team will kick off the 2005-06 season on Saturday. The Owls will host the University of Miami at 11 am at FAU Pool. The squad has 11 returning swimmers from last season's squad that finished third at the Sun Belt Conference Championships.

In two meetings with the Hurricanes last season, the team's split victories. UM took the first meet of the season in Coral Gables before FAU won in Boca Raton in January.

Junior Geni Burts returns to lead the Owls. She won the 1650 and 500 free at the Sun Belt Conference Championships in 2005. Ellie Weberg, the FAU record holder in the 100 and 200 breaststroke will also return for her junior season.

Miami will also open the season on Saturday. The team finished 10th last year in its first season in the ACC.
