BOCA RATON, FL - Despite the threat of fringe effects from Hurricane Charley, the Florida Atlantic University football team had no problem getting in its practice Friday afternoon at the Oxley Practice Field in Boca Raton. The team went through drills for nearly three hours under an overcast sky along with a steady breeze. Rain, which cancelled Thursday's practice, was never an issue as the team practiced in full pads for the first time.
On Saturday, the team will begin its first wave of three-a-day practices. Practice times are 8:00am, 10:30am, and 3:30pm.
The team's ability to get on the practice field has been in question the past two days because of the weather. Heavy rain shortly before Thursday's practice prevented the team from getting on the field. An ominous forecast for Friday that included the possibility of strong winds and heavy rain did not materialize.
The Owls are nearly three weeks away from opening their season September 4 at Hawaii. For information on purchasing single-game or season tickets for the 2004 season, please call 1-(866)-FAU-OWLS.
