Owls to Host Camels Tuesday

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University (0-4, 0-1 A-Sun) will seek its first win of the season when it hosts Campbell University (2-3, 0-0 A-Sun) Tuesday night at FAU Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 7:00pm. Tickets are available at the door. The game will be the second Atlantic Sun Conference game for FAU while the Camels will be playing their first. In their last outing on December 4, the Owls fell to Gardner-Webb, 76-69, at home. Mike Bell posted his second straight double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Robert Williams had a season-high 11 points while Jimmy Bishop and Tywain McTyer each added nine points.
Quinton Young leads the Owls with 14.0 points per game. All but eight of his 56 points have come from beyond the arc. The junior is shooting 50 percent (16-for-32) from long range and averaging 4.0 treys/game.
Bell has returned to his form of a year ago, upping his average to 12.8 points per game. The senior, who was named the A-Sun Preseason Player-of-the-Year, has averaged 20.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in his last two games.
Campbell enters the game 2-3 overall. The Camels are coming off a 68-67 victory at North Carolina A&T Saturday night. Maurice Latham posted 17 points and 12 rebounds in the win. On the year, Anthony Atkinson leads the team with 12.0 points per game. Comerlee Poole is averaging 9.6 points and 9.4 rebounds. Campbell is coming off a 3-24 campaign a year ago and has lost 55 of its past 67 games dating back to 2001-02.
Campbell leads the all-time series 10-8, but FAU has won the past three and five of the last six meetings. The Owls are 5-4 at FAU Gymnasium and have won the past three there by an average of 19.7 points. FAU has scored 83 points or more in the last four meetings.
The game will be Florida Atlantic's final home game until it takes on Colgate December 30. The Owls will play in a tournament hosted by Nevada, December 17-18, before facing UNLV December 22 in Las Vegas.
