BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University continues its road stretch against in-state teams when it goes up against the University of Miami Monday night in Coral Gables. Tip-off is set for 7:30pm at UM's Convocation Center. FAU is searching for its first win after two losses to start the season against Florida International and Florida. The Hurricanes are 1-2 but bring in a two-game losing streak.
The game can be heard live on WLVJ 1040-AM and www.fausports.com. It will be televised live on Sunshine Network and re-air again Tuesday at 12:30am and Noon.
The Owls are coming off a 90-45 defeat at the hands of no. 23 Florida November 23 in Gainesville. Robert Williams led the Owls with 10 points. Mike Bell grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. The game featured Coach Green going up against his son Taurean, who had eight points and eight assists for the Gators.
Miami enters the game with a two-game losing streak. The Hurricanes lost to Xavier on Saturday, 83-70, in overtime. On November 23, they suffered a 60-50 loss to South Carolina State after winning their season-opener, 67-64, over Wofford. Robert Hite leads the team with 16.3ppg.
UM leads the all-time series 16-1. The Hurricanes won the first 15 meetings before FAU broke through with a 74-73 overtime victory December 3, 2002, at FAU Gymnasium. Last year, FAU was defeated, 76-51, in its only appearance at the Convocation Center. The Owls are 0-11 at Miami.
The game is the last of three straight for the Owls on the road. Florida Atlantic will host Gardner-Webb December 4.
