Greenville, N.C. - Florida Atlantic University's men's golf team began play in the 2004 East Carolina Pirate Fall Intercollegiate, finishing 13th after the first two rounds. Torstein Naevestad finished four-over par on the 7,101-yard, par 72 Bradford Creek golf course.
Naevestad shot a 75 to open the tournament but improved two-strokes in the second round to fire a one-over par 73. He trails the leader by nine strokes. Tommy Suri set the pace early with a first round 74 before shooting a 77 in the second round. Freshmen Joong Jo, Marco Morales and Michael Berger finished with two-round scores of 153, 156 and 157, respectively.
FAU opened with a 305 before improving five strokes in the second round. The Owls trail the leader, host East Carolina, by 31-strokes. Atlantic Sun member Gardner-Webb (578) is in second with Charleston Southern (579), Elon University (581) and Longwood University (585) rounding out the top five.
FAU will conclude play Tuesday, October 19.
