BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University head men's basketball coach Sidney Green has announced the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to attend FAU and play basketball for the Owls in 2004-05. The list includes Quinton Young, Rodney Webb, and Tywain McTyer.
Young (G, 6-3, 170) will be a transfer from Triton College in River Grove, IL, where he is currently a sophomore. He averaged 22.2 points as a freshman and was named NJCAA Division II Second-Team All-Region. Young also was a First-Team All-Conference selection.
Webb (F, 6-7, 220) will be a transfer from Long Beach City College in Long Beach, CA. As a sophomore this year, Webb leads the team with 15.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.
McTyer (G, 6-0, 185) currently is a senior at Durango High School in Las Vegas, NV. He has averaged in double-figures in scoring the past two seasons. In addition, he averaged a double-double in points and rebounds as a junior.
"Being able to sign three student-athletes of this caliber in the early period is a testament to how far this program has come and where it's headed,' said Green. "I'd like to commend our coaching staff. Associate head coach Ken Huber along with assistant coaches Beau Archibald and Tim Griesser continue to work hard to make it possible to sign such quality recruits."
