Robert Yodice Signs with FAU Baseball

Robert Yodice is the latest player to sign a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Florida Atlantic University in 2004-05. The left-handed hitting catcher is the second high school player to sign from Staten Island, New York during the early signing period.
Playing his high school baseball at Xaverian High School, Yodice produced a .489 batting average and played summer ball with the Bayside Yankees along with Mike McKenna who signed last week with FAU. In the summer of 2003, Yodice was a member of the NABF World Series Baseball Championship team.
Recruiting Coordinator John McCormack believes that Yodice will make an immediate impact on the FAU team. "Robert is a hitter with plus power and his instincts behind the plate are beyond his years. He is a throwback type player that receives and blocks well. He will be ready to play early in his career."
He received recognition as the best player in the State of New York and was voted the 10th best catcher in the nation as a junior. His father can boast that he passed on talent to his son as he was a minor league catcher in the Mets organization and caught the likes of Tom Seaver, Nolan Ryan and Jon Matlack.
With the addition of Yodice, Florida Atlantic has signed eight players during the early signing period.
