On the first day of the early signing period, Wellington High School's Matt Dunn signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Florida Atlantic University. The left-handed pitcher will join a pitching staff that was ranked 12th in the nation in ERA in 2003.
The second team All-Conference and All-Area Honorable Mention selection posted a 2.15 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 26 innings to earn a 2-1 record through the regular season.
Dunn joins Wellington High School alumni Tim Mascia and Robert Orton on the FAU squad.
Recruiting coordinator John McCormack believes that Dunn has great potential in college. "Matt cannot throw the ball straight. His movement and ability to control a game will win in college baseball. His best pitching is ahead of him. We are very excited that he signed with us."
Florida Atlantic University is looking to repeat as Atlantic Sun Champion in 2004 and to advance to its fifth NCAA Regional in six years.
