Softball Receives Top Regional Ranking

BOCA RATON, FL - The NCAA has released its bi-weekly regional rankings, and Florida Atlantic University is ranked no. 1 in the South Region. It's the first time in school history the Lady Owls have held the top spot.

The South Region is one of eight regions in NCAA Division I Softball. The latest poll, released Thursday, is the first this season to rank teams. The previous rankings included teams in alphabetical order. The rankings are determined by the NCAA Division I Women's Softball Committee.

Besides FAU, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Virginia, and Central Florida round out the top-five in the South Region.

Florida Atlantic (54-8) is ranked no. 10 in the latest USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 poll. The Lady Owls have already clinched the Atlantic Sun Conference regular season title.
