Men's Tennis Defeats New Mexico State

ORLANDO, FL - Florida Atlantic University, ranked no. 49 in the nation, extended its winning streak to six matches with a 4-0 victory over New Mexico State Friday afternoon in Orlando. The win improves FAU to 15-3 on the season.
The Owls took a 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point. FAU claimed victories at no. 2 and no. 3 with a win by Doug Devriendt and Cristian Paiz at no. 2 while Martin Jirak and F.J. Schofield won at no. 3.
In singles, FAU needed just three wins to clinch the match. Paiz extended his personal winning streak to 12 matches with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Luis Avila. Jirak defeated Ben Archer-Clowes 6-4, 6-4 at no. 3 while Sandro Spotti picked up a straight sets victory at no. 2. Matches involving Devriendt, Buzzoni, and Ernest Diaz did not finish.
Florida Atlantic next takes Atlantic Sun Conference rival central Florida Saturday at 11:00am in Orlando.
