BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University, ranked no. 44 nationally, defeated Illinois State University 5-1 Monday in Boca Raton. The Owls grabbed the doubles point before clinching the victory with four singles wins.
In doubles, Doug Devriendt and Cristian Paiz teamed at no. 1 to defeat ISU's Marek Blaskovic and Ricky Heath 8-6 at no. 1. FAU's F.J. Schofield and Sandro Spotti also picked up a win at no. 2 over Ciaron Foley and Ben Pettinari, 8-5.
In singles, Devriendt won at no. 1 while Paiz, Schofield, and Ernest Diaz also picked up wins for the Owls.
With the victory, Florida Atlantic improved to 9-2 on the year while ISU fell to 4-8.
