MIAMI, FL - Florida Atlantic University improved to 4-0 on the year with a 4-0 victory, Wednesday, against Barry University in Miami. The no. 33 Owls took the doubles point before claiming three victories in singles play.
FAU won at no. 2 and no. 3 doubles to start the match. The team of Doug Devriendt and Cristian Paiz defeated Barry's Alexander Reichl and Perry Bakst 8-2 at no. 3 before FAU's Martin Jirak and F.J. Schofield defeated Erik Holubec and Phillippe Lacombe 9-7 at no. 2.
In singles action, FAU took a 2-0 lead when Holubec retired early in the first set against Andre Buzzoni at no. 3. Ernest Diaz defeated Bakst 6-2, 6-0 at no. 6 to give the Owls a 3-0 lead. FAU clinched the match when Schofield defeated Reichl at no. 5, 6-2, 6-2.
Florida Atlantic next faces Charleston Southern Saturday afternoon in Orlando.
