Men's Tennis Closes Out Home Schedule With Victory

Florida Atlantic University defeated visiting DePaul University, 4-0, Monday in Boca Raton. The win was the 10th straight for the no. 66 Owls as they closed out the home portion of their 2001 schedule.
FAU (16-3) took their 18th consecutive doubles point by winning two of the three early matches. The team of Doug Devriendt and Cristian Paiz grabbed the first victory, 8-0, over DePaul's Jevgenij Cariov and Andy Michael. The Owls clinched the point when Fabio Faerman and Sandro Spotti defeated DPU's Dan Bennett and Sanjay Jeram 8-6 at no. 3.
In singles play, FAU's Kodi Lewis gave FAU a 2-0 lead when he won his 11th straight match of the season to stay undefeated in dual match play. Lewis knocked off DePaul's Andy Michael 6-1, 6-3 at no. 5. Spotti and Paiz followed with victories at no. 4 and no. 6, respectively to assure FAU of the victory. The no. 1-3 singles matches did not finish.
FAU next plays no. 34 South Florida April 6 in Tampa.
