Florida Atlantic University's softball team swept a doubleheader against Valparaiso Wednesday night. The Lady Owls (24-8) won the first game 3-2 while taking a 7-1 decision in the second.
FAU, ranked 26th nationally, took game one when Annie Norton scored on a wild-pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning. Chris Sutcliffe (7-1) got the victory, striking out eight in eight innings and allowing no earned runs. Ninya Ybarra went 2-for-4 with an RBI while Nicole Myers chipped in an RBI-single.
In game two, Kristie Picon took the mound and improved to 6-1 on the year. She struck out five in the complete game performance. Cat Cashion went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI while Myers went 2-for-3 with a double.
The Lady Owls next play at the Florida State Invitational beginning Friday in Tallahassee.
