TALLAHASSEE, FL -
Florida Atlantic University split its games Friday at the Florida State Invitational in Tallahassee. FAU fell to no. 12 Nebraska 2-1 before knocking off Bethune-Cookman 5-2. The Lady Owls' record stands at 25-9 heading into Saturday's action.
In game one, FAU's only hit came courtesy of a Callie Piper home run, the first of the freshman catcher's collegiate career. Nicole Myers (11-7) suffered the loss despite throwing a complete-game two-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
Myers (12-7) picked up the victory in relief against B-CC. Freshman outfielder Catherine Cashion gave the Lady Owls the victory on a two-out sixth inning grand slam. Myers and Michelle Shirah each doubled in the game.
FAU next takes on Iowa State Saturday at 10:00am.
