Baseball 1982-1984Â
Mike Ryan played a major role in building the Florida Atlantic University baseball program during the young, but formative years of FAU baseball in the early 1980's. The first baseman was honored as a Division II All-America third-team player in 1985. His career homerun total of 47 still stands as the best in FAU history. Ryan twice earned position MVP honors (1982 and 1984) during his FAU career. During the 1982 season he batted .418 which was ranked as the program's highest single-season batting average for 25 years. Ryan still appears everywhere inside the FAU record books, listed among the all-time leaders in RBI (73 - 1982), total bases (148 - 1982, 142 - 1984), slugging percentage (.783 - 1982), home runs (19 - 1984) and putouts (383 - 1982, 375 - 1983). He is also among the career leaders in runs scored (144), home runs (47), RBI (182), total bases (389), slugging percentage (.677), and putouts (768). After establishing himself as one of the most accomplished players in FAU history, Ryan went on to spend four years in the Minnesota Twins' minor league system.
