Familiar as anyone with the Florida Atlantic University women’s basketball program, Arianne Stinson approaches her fifth year on the Owls’ staff.
As the director of basketball operations, Stinson coordinates the team’s travel and practices, as well as serves as a liaison between the basketball office and departments around athletics. Stinson was hired on the Owls’ staff in May 2017 and has played an integral role in several aspects of the program over the last five years.
The 2020-21 season was full of several challenges, including having to manage through the global COVID-19 pandemic all year long. Stinson was a significant part to the Owls’ recruiting efforts as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator during that season. She played a huge role in FAU’s big jump in the Conference USA standings, which included FAU’s first C-USA Tournament quarterfinals appearance and the program’s most C-USA wins with eight.
Before getting back to the collegiate coaching scene, Stinson spent nearly a year as a site coordinator at Playworks, a leading national nonprofit that serves more than 1,200 schools in 23 U.S. cities. During her time there, she was in charge of consulting with four Minnesota elementary schools to coach and model a positive recess environment. Stinson trained school faculty and recess staff on how to implement the play-based program and facilitated community learning time with students K-5 and their teachers that focused on the social and emotional benefits of physical activities.
Prior to her time with Playworks, Stinson spent two seasons (2014-16) as the North Dakota State University women's basketball director of operations. In 2014-15, she saw the Bison finish with an 11-17 overall record and a 7-9 Summit League mark. NDSU finished sixth in The Summit League, the highest finish for the women's basketball program since the 2011-12 season. The team finished the 2015-16 season with two players receiving All-Summit League honors. During her two seasons, the team also was awarded the Bison Service Challenge Award for their commitment and service in the community.
Before joining the Bison, Stinson served as the head varsity girls' basketball coach at Hope Academy for the 2013-14 season. Stinson also spent those two summers as the head coach of the Crossfire AAU team. Prior to her time at Hope Academy, she was the head 10th grade basketball coach for Mounds View High School for the 2012-13 season and the head ninth grade basketball coach at Tartan High School for the 2011-12 campaign.
A native of Oakdale, Minnesota, Stinson played two seasons at Concordia St. Paul University from 2009-11. While there, she was a two-time Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference All-Academic Women's Basketball Championship Team recipient and a Concordia St. Paul Golden Bear Award winner in women's basketball for her performance during the 2010-11 season. She was also the women's basketball representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee during her stint with the Golden Bears.
Stinson graduated from Concordia St. Paul in May 2012 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology. Stinson and her husband, Darryl, live in Boca Raton with their son Myles.
