Matthew Lasprilla joined the men’s tennis staff as assistant coach in the summer of 2018 and was added to the women's staff in 2022. He has more than 20 years of tennis experience, including eight years in tennis club management.
Most recently, Lasprilla worked as a coach at various local clubs, including Magallan Tennis Academy and The Club at Boca Pointe, as an assistant professional. Previously, he held the same position at Topgun Tennis and Mission Bay Tennis Center.
During his playing days, Lasprilla was a highly-ranked junior both nationally and in the state of Florida. As recently as 2011, he was No. 11 in Florida Men’s Open rankings, and he played on the ITF pro circuit in both singles and doubles through 2013.

(2021) Assistant Coach for FAU Men’s Tennis Conference USA tournament semifinalist
(2022) Assistant Coach for FAU Men's and Women's Tennis. Advanced to the semifinals on both sides
(2023) Assistant Coach for FAU Men's and Women's Tennis. Played in the program's final C-USA Tournament with a semifinal finish on the men's side and a quarter final finish on the women's side
(2024) Assistant Coach for FAU Men's and Women's Tennis. Competed in the American Athletic Conference Championship for the first time both teams advanced to the quarter finals
(2025) Assistant Coach for Men's and Women's Tennis. Both advanced to the AAC semifinals. John Bernard held a national ranking as did the men's team. The women's team was ranked in the nation's top 30 and advanced the the NCAA First Round for the first time since 2005 and to the Second Round for the first time in program history
