Jana Pladevall-Guyer joined the SACAE staff as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in August of 2016, and was promoted to a full-time Learning Specialist in May of 2017. In March of 2018, she became the SACAE’s Tutor Coordinator and added the sports of softball and beach volleyball in January of 2019. In the Fall of 2023, Valentine was elevated to assistant director.
Jana works alongside the other Learning Specialists to provide academic support to student-athletes with diagnosed learning disabilities, or who are deemed at risk. As the Tutor Coordinator, she hires, trains, and evaluates the tutors as well as scheduling all tutoring appointments for the SACAE Tutorial Program.
Jana’s hometown is Ann Arbor, Michigan and she has made Florida her home over the past few years. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Florida, earning a bachelor’s with honors in psychology and a minor in Africana studies. Jana is currently in the Higher Education Leadership Master’s program at FAU.
Jana began working in athletics in 2014 as a tutor in the Student-Athlete Enrichment Center at USF. There she found her passion for supporting student-athletes academically, and began to pursue a career as a Learning Specialist.
