Manisha Redus was announced as an assistant coach for Florida Atlantic women’s basketball by first-year Head Coach LeAnn Freeland in the spring of 2025.
Redus arrives from just down the road, Palm Beach Atlantic, where she served as the head coach from 2018-2025. She took over a Sailfish program in 2018 that just completed its first year as a full member in the Sunshine State Conference. She has more than 15 years of playing and coaching experience throughout the NCAA Division I and Division II levels.
PBA returned to the SSC tournament in 2024-25. Redus oversaw a team that notched six SSC weekly awards throughout the year. Kash Ayuso and Anabell Ellison earned All-SSC honors. Ellison led the conference in steals while Ayuso was second in the SSC in scoring.
The Sailfish finished with their best season with Redus at the helm as they carried a 15-14 record during the 2023-24 season The 'Fish ended the season with the league’s leading scorer, Kash Ayuso (19.7 ppg), and leading rebounder, Mariyah Fletcher (10.7 rpg).
In Redus' fifth season in 2022-23, the Sailfish reached double-digit wins for the first time since 2015-16, and the first time since joining the Sunshine State Conference.
Redus captained PBA through a shortened 2020-21 season in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic as the 'Fish played an unprecedented eleven-game season. PBA matched the previous season's win total in the shortened season where they made the SSC Tournament for the first time. The Sailfish made it to the finals after defeating Florida Tech and Rollins before having their season end against Tampa. PBA's Shekinah Guthrie was named SSC Defensive Player of the Year, the first to do so in program history, while Maria Benitez-Zayas was named to the All-SSC second team.
Prior to her arrival at PBA, Redus was an assistant coach at University of West Georgia, spending three years. While with the Wolves, she helped the team increase their win total each year, culminating with a 16-win season in 2017-18. She was a vital contributor to UWG’s appearances in two Gulf South Conference Tournaments.
Before coaching at UWG, Redus was an assistant coach at the University of Montevallo for two years.
Redus is a 2005 graduate of the University of Alabama, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing. She was a four-year standout for the Crimson Tide from 2000-2004 and started every game for Alabama during her junior and senior seasons.
