Machado comes to Florida Atlantic from the University of South Carolina where he was a member of the Men's Tennis Team. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Machado was one of the Brazil's top Junior tennis players.
Machado played four years for the University of South Carolina where he finished his career as one of the University of South Carolina's most active players. He currently holds the University of South Carolina school record for career SEC doubles matches played with 42 and is second in career SEC combined matches played with 82. Machado is also 6th in the program's history with over 250 combined matches played. Machado was ranked as high as 9th in NCAA doubles and competed in the 2009 NCAA Doubles Championship. He helped lead the Gamecocks to NCAA Tournament appearances in his freshman (2009) and senior (2012) seasons.
