At FAU
- Came to Florida Atlantic in January of 2020 as the program’s cornerbacks coach
- In his first year, the DB unit contributed to having the fifth-best pass defense in C-USA, just 188.2 yards per game. That mark was 16th in NCAA
- That led to the second-lowest scoring defense in the league (17.4 points per game) and No. 4 C-USA total defense. Respectively, those numbers were 10th and 24th in FBS
- Prior to FAU, Samuels spent one season at his alma mater, Florida State, as a defensive analyst
- Samuels began his coaching career at Fort Lauderdale’s Flanagan High School prior to returning to Tallahassee and his alma mater to begin his collegiate coaching career
- Prior to beginning his collegiate coaching career, Samuels was a cornerback in the Canadian football league, after he originally signed as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts in 2004
- He saw time with the Edmonton Eskimos, Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Montreal Alouettes
- At Florida State, Samuels tallied 156 career tackles and six interceptions
