At Northern Iowa
Dewitt had the opportunity to work with outstanding linebackers and teams. UNI posted a 24-11 record from 2009-11. UNI was ranked No. 18 in 2009-10 and moved to No. 6 nationally in 2011. In 2011 he coached LJ Fort who was named a six-time All-American and was the runner up in the Buck Buchanan Award. Fort was named the defensive player of the year and the Sporting News Player of the Year, College Sports Magazine Player of the Year and earned Player of the Week several times after he finished among the national leaders (all-divisions) in total tackles (186) and No. 2 among FCS teams. In 2009 Elijah Hodge earned the newcomer of the year award while Josh Mahony was a semifinalist for the Walt Byars award signifying academic excellence (award winner was Tim Tebow).
At St. Norbert
Defensive coordinator on a staff that saw Breadan O’Mally earn Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2006. Team finished 10-1 and ranked No. 23 nationally at the NCAA Division III level. In 2007 the squad finished 10-1 and were ranked 10-1 behind the efforts of Jay Arndt who was the Defensive Player of the Year. The following year 2008, St. Norbert finished 7-3.
At Northern Michigan
He began his coaching career as a student assistant defensive line coach at NMU in 1997. As G.A. at NMU in 2000-01 he coached the running backs and was the academic coordinator.
At Fort Scott Community College
Served as an assistant coach at Fort Scott Community College in Kansas. At Fairmont State Named the offensive, special teams and academic coordinator at Fairmont State College in West Virginia.

Collegiate Playing Career
Dewitt was a four-time letter winner at NMU from 1993-96. He was a two-time All-MIFC selection as he was the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year in 1996. 2-time All Amercan.
Professional Playing Career
He was invited to the New Orleans Saints camp in the summer of 1997 and played three years in the Arena Football League with the Iowa Barnstormers (1997), the Orlando Predators (1998) and the Fargo Freeze (1999) in the AFL II.
