Joey Bellini

Joey Bellini joined the Florida Atlantic baseball program as hitting and infield defense coach in June 2025. In his first season, the Owls set a program record and finished with the No. 1 team fielding percentage (.978) in the American Conference. Nick Romano led all American Conference third basemen in fielding percentage, shortstop Brando Leroux led the league in assists, and the Owls led the American and finished third in the Southeast Region with 48 double plays turned.Â
Bellini previously spent four seasons (2022-25) as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Xavier University. Under Bellini's tutelage, 13 players earned All-Big East honors, led by 2022 Big East Player of the Year Luke Franzoni. The Musketeers won the 2023 Big East Tournament, reached the Vanderbilt Regional Final, and tied the program record with 39 wins.Â
Prior to joining Xavier's staff, Bellini was a standout at Cincinnati for three seasons from 2019-21. He appeared in 116 games, primarily at shortstop. Originally from Winter Park, Florida, Bellini hit .305 as a Bearcat, finishing his career with 145 hits, including 31 doubles, and drove in 82 RBI.
Bellini earned a spot on the American All-Conference Second Team in 2021, starting in 51 games at shortstop, where he helped UC lead the league in double plays turned. Bellini batted .311 in AAC games that season, and finished with 66 hits, including 11 doubles, a triple, and three home runs.

Prior to his time at UC, Bellini played at St. John’s River State College in Florida, where he earned First Team Mid-Florida Conference and Second Team All-State as a part of the baseball program.

Bellini is a two-time graduate of the University of Cincinnati, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Entrepreneurship in 2020, then completing his Master’s in Sport Administration in 2021. He also holds an Associate Arts Degree from St. John’s River State College.
