The CHAMPS/Life Skills Program was created to support the student-athlete development initiatives of NCAA member institutions and to enhance the quality of the student-athlete experience within the context of higher education. The CHAMPS/Life Skills program at FAU supports our student-athlete's development in five areas: academics, athletics, personal development, career development and community service through a number of organizations, activities, workshops and events.

FAU Life Skills Workshops
The Student-Athlete Center for Academic Excellence offers a variety of "Life Skills" programming for student-athletes. In recent years, FAU's "Life Skills" programming has been conducted through a series of workshops designed to help students not only make a successful transition to college life, but also to prepare them for success beyond FAU once they graduate. The goal of the personal development program is to support student-athletes in their development of a healthy lifestyle. It begins with an assessment of personal development needs of the student-athlete. The educational and awareness programming is developed through the collaboration of campus and community resources. Recent workshops have focused on such topics as time management, study skills, resume and cover letter writing, drug and alcohol awareness, and health and wellness topics. Student-athletes are required to attend a minimum of two "Life Skills" workshops each semester.
