Van Heyst Garners American Setter of the Week Honors

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic volleyball's Maya Van Heyst was named as American Conference Setter of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.
The honor marks the first American weekly award for the Owls this season, and first career American weekly honor for Van Heyst.
Van Heyst helped lead the Owls' offense this week against No. 10 Florida, Troy, and Dayton. Van Heyst dished out a team-best 145 assists, averaging an impressive 11.15 assists per set, while also adding 25 digs, averaging 1.92 digs per set, in addition to 10 kills and six service aces across the Owls' three matches.
On Friday, Van Heyst recorded her fourth double-double of the season, turning in 32 assists and 12 digs, to go along with five kills and a block against the No. 10-ranked Gators. In the Owls' win over Troy on Saturday, Van Heyst dished out a career-best 58 assists, while also adding six digs and five kills. Van Heyst then closed out the weekend with another strong performance, dishing out 55 assists, as well as tallying seven digs and a pair of service aces, on Sunday against Dayton.

The Owls return to Paradise this week as they prepare to host their Owls Paradise Classic on Sept. 18-19, welcoming Alabama State and Stetson.
