BOCA RATON, Fla. – Michel Tentchou scored the game-tying goal with just over six minutes left in the second half to help Florida Atlantic men's soccer (2-0-4) earn a 1-1 draw with Charlotte (1-1-3) on Friday night. Last year's American Conference co-champions split the points in the first league fixture of the season.
The 49ers opened the scoring in the 17th minute. The visitors held a 4-3 shot advantage over the Owls in the first half.
Florida Atlantic flipped the script in the second half and finally found the breakthrough in the 84th minute.
Xavi Csato sent a cross into the six-yard box, and Tentchou got just enough power behind a header to guide it into the corner of the net. It was his team-leading third goal of the season.
The final shot total favored the Owls, 11-10.
Alfred Mikkelsen finished with two saves in goal.
