BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic's Hagerty Family Head Football Coach Zach Kittley will begin his weekly Tuesday press conferences on Tuesday, Sept. 1, airing live on ESPN+ at 12 p.m.
The second-year head coach, youngest among all FBS head coaches, will be joined weekly by two players. First on the docket are a pair of team captains: QB Caden Veltkamp and DL CJ Doggette Jr.
Fall camp has concluded and Coach Kittley is preparing the Owls for their 2026 season opener on Saturday, Sept. 5 at Florida. Kickoff is set for 7:45 p.m. on SEC Network.
Veltkamp returns to Florida Atlantic after a 2025 season in which he led the nation in completions per game (28.75), finished No. 3 in total offensive yards per game (307.2), No. 4 in completion percentage (67%), and No. 7 in passing yards (3,641). Heading into his final collegiate campaign, Veltkamp has been named to the Manning Watch List as well as the Maxwell Award Watch List.
Doggette Jr. led the defense from the front, posting seven tackles for a loss including a team-best four sacks. He is coming off an American All-Conference selection and has been named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy as well as the Outland Trophy watch lists.
