Women’s Soccer Returns Home to Face Howard

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women's soccer will face off against Howard for the first time in 26 years on Thursday in the first game of a women's and men's doubleheader.
The Owls (0-2-1) host the Bison (0-0-2) at FAU Soccer Stadium, with a kickoff time of 5 p.m., ahead of FAU men's soccer versus North Florida. Both games will be streamed live on FAUSports.com.
ABOUT THE OWLS
The only time these two teams previously tangled was all the way back on Sept. 10, 2000, a 3-1 FAU win in Jacksonville. The Bison got on the board first, right before halftime, but the Owls recovered via a hat trick by Lisanne Peart. She came off the bench and tallied goals in the 75th, 83rd and 86th minutes to seal the neutral site victory.

ABOUT THE OWLS
- The Owls traveled to Tallahassee and lost against No. 3 Florida State, 3-0.
- In her first FAU start in goal, Nikki Holland posted five saves against 18 Seminole shot attempts.
- Her effort was bolstered by a strong backline defense of Sydney Neira and Cicely-Ann Spencer-Wickham, who each played all 90 minutes, as well as Georgia Cousins alongside freshman Avery Runk, making her first career start.
- Spencer-Wickham (263 out of 270) and Neira (247) pace the squad in minutes played through three matches. Hailey Santiago (230), Lola Hathorne (200) and Sydney Markee (197) round out the top five.
- Howard has two draws in two matches, finishing scoreless versus George Washington, and 1-1 in the HBCU Invitational against Hampton.
- Goalkeeper Trinity Knox was named NEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week with 17 saves in those two outings.
- The Bison were voted fourth in the NEC Preseason Coaches Poll following a 9-7-3 season a year ago, including a 7-2-2 NEC record.
- Head Coach Brent Leiba is in his 18th season atop the Howard program, with a career record of 141-133-31.
