BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic senior goalkeeper
Alfred Mikkelsen has been named the American Conference Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year, the league announced on Tuesday. Mikkelsen, junior defender
David Roberts, and senior midfielder
Felipe Santos were also named to the American Preseason All-Conference team.
Mikkelsen had a breakout first season in Paradise in 2025. As a junior, he started 14 matches in goal, finishing with an 11-3 record. He tied the single-season program record with six clean sheets, backstopping the Owls to the American Conference Regular Season and Tournament titles.

Santos' role increased as the year progressed in 2025. He appeared in 18 matches, including 15 starts in the midfield. The Sao Paulo, Brazil native scored his first goal as an Owl in the dramatic 4-3 victory over USF on October 29.
The Owls were picked second in the American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. They open their title defense on Thursday, August 20, in Macon, Georgia, against Mercer. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. FAU will host UCF for its home opener on Sunday, August 23.
