BOCA RATON, Fla. – After the Florida Atlantic softball team swept UTSA in an American Conference weekend series, the Owls (25-11, 7-5) swept the weekly league awards, with junior outfielder
Ciara Gibson earning Player of the Week and senior pitcher
Autumn Courtney nabbing Pitcher of the Week.
This is the first honor of Gibson's collegiate career, while it is the second for Courtney in 2026 and her eighth as a member of the Owls. The duo led the team on the way to a 4-0-week, outscoring opponents 32-4.
Gibson recorded seven hits in 11 at-bats with two home runs and five RBI while scoring six runs. She logged multiple hits and runs in three out of the four wins and RBI in all four.
In the midweek matchup against FIU, Gibson had two singles and a walk in the 10-2 victory. She followed it up two days later with the first multi-home run game of her career, launching two solo shots in the 5-0 shutout over the Roadrunners. She contributed to the series sweep on Saturday with three hits, four runs, and two RBI in the Saturday doubleheader.
Courtney was responsible in the circle for three of the four wins and was one out away from three complete games with two shutouts along the way. She allowed just two earned runs and held opposing batters to .109 average while striking out 15 of them.
On Wednesday, Courtney allowed just three hits against the Panthers and totaled seven strikeouts. On Friday, she held Roadrunner batters hitless after the first inning. She pitched her second shutout in less than 24 hours on Saturday, .
The reigning American Pitcher of the Year now has a league-leading 13 wins and currently holds a mark of a 2.14 ERA with 81 strikeouts.
