GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida Atlantic baseball (6-6) dropped its first road test of the season on Tuesday night with a 4-0 defeat at the hands of No. 9 Florida (12-1).
THE BEGINNING
Florida opened the scoring in the first inning and added a second on a solo home run in the third. Owls' starter
Kide Adetuyi pitched well but departed after four innings with six strikeouts and a 4-0 deficit.
THE TURNING POINT
The Owls had their best chance to cut into the deficit in the third inning.
Ian Collier and
Kyle Boylston sparked the offense with back-to-back singles.
Marshall Lipsey moved the runners to second and third with a bunt, but consecutive strikeouts ended the threat.
THE FINISH
Florida Atlantic managed just one more hit the rest of the way as Florida's pitching and defense locked things down.
THE BATS
- Brett Patten led the offense with a double, a single, and two walks.
- Florida out-hit the Owls 9-4.
THE ARMS
- Adetuyi took his first loss despite four solid innings.
- Three of the four runs against him were earned.
- Zach Kilby, Kyzer Smith, and Brayden Gilson combined to hold UF scoreless for the final four innings.
- Each allowed one hit. Kilby led the way with three strikeouts.
