BOCA RATON, Fla. – For the second consecutive week, sophomore
Lily Holtje of the Florida Atlantic softball team received recognition from the American Conference on the Honorable Mention list, announced by the league on Monday.
Holtje receives her third weekly honor of the season, now with two honorable mentions and a Player of the Week.
Over the course of the week, Holtje led the team in batting average (.467), hits (seven), doubles (three), and was one of four to hit a home run as the Owls went 4-1 and were undefeated in the weekend's Beach Chicken Brawl.
Holtje's two-run homer in the midweek matchup against UCF was her third of the season, also adding a double later in the game. During the weekend, she proceeded to add two hits and two RBI in the 11-1 win over Binghamton, a hit and a run in the 7-1 victory over Coastal Carolina, a double with two RBI and a run in the second 10-1 win against Binghamton, and a hit to finish the weekend in the win against Saint Joseph's. Her on-base streak is now at 14 straight games.
Over the course of the season, Holtje is currently second in the American in OPS (1.334) as well as doubles (nine) and is third in walks (16).
UP NEXT
On Wednesday, March 4, at 6 p.m., the Owls will host FGCU in a midweek game on Joan Joyce Field at FAU Softball Stadium, airing on ESPN+. American Conference play then begins on the road at Charlotte from March 6 – 8.
