BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic softball team swept the first edition of the American Conference's 2026 weekly awards. Sophomore
Lily Holtje was named American Player of the Week, while senior
Autumn Courtney won Pitcher of the Week.
Both led the Owls to a 5-0 record over the opening weekend in the Paradise Classic that included wins over Big Ten opponents Indiana, Ohio State, and Wisconsin.
Holtje earned Player of the Week honors after her debut week with the Owls. She led the team offensively with a .688 on-base percentage, tallying five hits, four of them for extra bases, in 11 at-bats along with six walks. Her weekend batting average was .556.
She opened the season on Feb. 5 with a double, a walk and a run scored in the 8-0 win over Indiana. The next night in the 10-6 win versus Ohio State, Holtje launched her first home run of the season and then proceeded to draw a walk in her next three plate appearances.. She added an RBI double with a run and a walk in the Owls' 4-3 victory against Wisconsin and had two RBI in each Sunday game, both wins versus Stonehill and Delaware.
Courtney, the reigning unanimous American Conference Pitcher of the Year, earned her first weekly honor from the league after collecting six in 2025. Courtney made three appearances in the Owls' first three games and earned two wins and a save. She finished the weekend with a 1.40 ERA to go with a conference-best 16 strikeouts.
In FAU's season opener, Courtney pitched all five innings against Indiana with eight strikeouts and allowed just two hits. The following night, she picked up the save, allowing one hit to go with three strikeouts in 1.1 innings against Ohio State. She once again entered in relief and earned the win versus Wisconsin, with five strikeouts in 3.2 innings of work.

The Owls will participate in the 2026 Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational from Feb. 13-15, facing College World Series runner-up Texas Tech, as well as Florida State, Tennessee, Missouri, and James Madison. The tournament begins Friday, Feb. 13 against Texas Tech at 4 p.m. followed by Florida State at 7 p.m. All FAU tournament games air on ESPN+.
