Partnership features exclusive Publix jersey patches on mascots Owlsley and Hoot
BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic Owls and FAU Sports Properties announced today a multiyear partnership with Publix Super Markets, naming the largest privately-owned company in the U.S. the "Official Supermarket of Florida Atlantic Athletics."
As part of the partnership, Publix will receive exclusive mascot jersey patches on FAU's beloved mascots, Owlsley and Hoot. Additional elements include signage at athletics venues, social media and in-game promotions, fan-focused activations, and branded presences outside athletics venues on game days.
Publix will also serve as the presenting sponsor of the Publix Fan Zone outside Flagler Credit Union Stadium on football game days. The Fan Zone will feature a dedicated Publix-branded area with music, games, and special appearances by Owlsley and Hoot, creating an enhanced pregame experience for fans and families.
"Florida Atlantic Athletics is thrilled to welcome Publix to our family," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian White. "Publix is such an incredibly respected and recognizable brand with a mission and values that align perfectly with ours as the Hometown Team for Boca Raton. We look forward to growing the partnership in the coming years and we are excited for the impact it will have for our teams and our fans."
The partnership officially tips off Thursday night on Abessinio Court at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena when Florida Atlantic hosts Temple in men's basketball. On the team's annual Vice Night, Publix will provide more than 3,000 co-branded, Vice-themed black t-shirts, free to fans in attendance.
"Publix is proud to partner with Florida Atlantic Athletics and be part of the excitement surrounding FAU sports," said Lindsey Willis, Media Relations Manager for Publix Super Markets. "FAU's commitment to excellence, community engagement, and creating memorable fan and student experiences aligns closely with our values. We look forward to supporting student-athletes, celebrating Owl pride, and creating meaningful moments for fans on campus and on game days."
Also at Thursday's men's basketball game, Publix will kick off the partnership with a fan activation outside the arena featuring a 10-foot-tall Publix shopping cart, music, games, prizes, coupons, and special appearances by Owlsley and Hoot. As part of its ongoing commitment to giving back locally, Publix will present a $5,000 donation to Boca Helping Hands, a Palm Beach County nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the community by providing food and resources to help individuals achieve financial stability.
"We are excited to partner with such an iconic Florida brand like Publix," said General Manager of FAU Sports Properties John Tull. "Their commitment to customer service and community engagement is second to none. We look forward to welcoming them as one of our premier Paradise Partners and curating a mutually meaningful partnership that unites two powerful brands."
