Morgenstern, Mignerey Selected to CUSA Preseason Team

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic beach volleyball's Kendall Mignerey and Denisse Morgenstern were selected to the 2026 Conference USA Preseason Team, as announced by the league office on Thursday.
The CUSA beach volleyball preseason team consists of 11 honorees, including the preseason player of the year, voted on by the league's head coaches.
The selections mark the first career preseason team honors for both Morgenstern and Mignerey.
Morgenstern, a native of Asunción, Paraguay, joined the Owls from Coastal Carolina. During the 2025 season, Morgenstern took a step away from NCAA beach volleyball, competing for Team Paraguay in the 2025 South American Beach Volleyball Circuit. In the South American circuit, Morgenstern won two silver medals and the final stop's championship, earning a gold medal. She also finished third in the 2025 Asuncion Junior Pan American Games, earning a bronze medal, and won the 2025 Bolivarian Games Lima-Ayacucho Championship, winning a gold medal. During the 2024 season, Morgenstern earned 2024 Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year and All-Conference Second Team honors.
Mignerey is a Sunshine State native from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. She was recognized as a CUSA All-Conference First Team honoree and earned CUSA Pair of the Tournament honors at the end of the 2025 season. Mignerey finished fifth on the team with an 18-17 record, including a season-best 11-8 record on court three. She played primarily with Kate McLaughlin, producing a career-best 11-9 pair record. The senior earned ranked wins against No. 7 Florida State, No. 8 Texas, No. 14 Washington, No. 17 FIU, and No. 20 Georgia State. In the CUSA Tournament, Mignerey went 3-1, earning the championship-clinching win against No. 2 seed Tulane during the CUSA Championship. She also earned CUSA Commissioner's Academic Medal and Honor Roll honors.
Florida Atlantic's 2026 season kicks off on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20-21, as the Sandy Owls host their season-opening Beach Burrow Bash.
