Owls to Play Two This Weekend

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic women's tennis team will return to action this weekend with a home and an away contest, both versus an in-state foe.
First serve versus FGCU, on Friday, Feb. 13 is scheduled for 12 p.m. at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center, located on FAU's Boca Raton campus. The team will then travel south for a 12 p.m. contest on Saturday, Feb. 14 in Coral Gables versus Miami.
The 2-2 Owls defeated both teams a year ago enroute to their perfect regular season record. FAU is 10-8 all-time versus the FGCU Eagles and will bring a 6-4 home series record into the contest. FAU and Miami have played 25 previous times with the Owls earning their first victory last season in Paradise.
The Owls are led by sophomore Lara Smejkal and freshman Alexia Patru, who have both tallied a 3-1 record in 2026.
FAU's 2026 doubles teams have yet to drop a point with the top two teams of Panna Bartha / Katrin Pavkova holding a 4-0 mark on the year while Malwina Rowinska / Smejkal are 3-0. The freshman duo of Malika Amirgaliyeva and Patru picked up their first doubles win of the season and are 1-0 on the year.
