Women's Soccer's First Look at 2025 Season

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The Florida Atlantic women's soccer team will begin its 2025 season in Paradise on Friday, August 8, in the Red vs. Blue exhibition scrimmage. The match is open to the public and will kick off at 6 p.m. at the FAU Soccer Stadium.
Head Coach Patrick Baker is entering his 13th season at the helm of the Owls and 34th overall as a head coach. Baker is one of the top 40 winningest active Division I women's soccer head coaches.
For the first regular season match of the 2025 season, the Owls will take on Loyola (MD) in the annual stadium game at the Flagler Credit Union Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 14, at 7 p.m. on ESPN+. Tickets for the match are on sale at ticketmaster.com. The remaining nine matches will be played at the FAU Soccer Stadium with free admission. FAU will have a total of six home matches on ESPN+ (Loyola MD, Florida State, Tulsa, Temple, UAB, and North Texas). The remaining home matches will air on FAUSports.com.
FAU will then face five in-state opponents over the next six games with road matches at UCF (Aug. 17), Miami (Aug. 21), FIU (Aug. 24) and Jacksonville (Sept. 4), and home matches versus FGCU (Aug. 31) and Florida State (Sept. 7). American Conference play will start in Boca Raton against UTSA on Thursday, Oct. 11. The American Conference Tournament begins on November 3 in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., with the semifinals set for November 6 and the championship on November 9.
Entering the upcoming season, the Owls coaching staff consists of Baker, Jeremy Hampton as the associate head coach, and former player Kat Cunningham as an assistant coach. The roster has ten seniors, seven sophomores, and nine freshmen. The 2025 freshman class consists of four from Florida, one from Georgia, two from California, and one from Texas. Joining the Owls are three transfers (Megan Hogate, Sammi Jo Payne, and Lida Dodge). Hogate joins the Owls from Texas after spending four years as a goalkeeper. Payne transferred from South Florida, where she spent a year with the Bulls, and Dodge made her way to Paradise after spending two years at Purdue.
Assists leader Michelle Horan, who also tied for the team lead in goals in 2024, returns for her last year at Florida Atlantic. Horan has totaled seven assists and three goals in 51 games played in her career as an Owl. Graduate student Sloane Young, who tied with Horan in goals in the previous campaign, returns to play another year in her hometown to close out her collegiate career. In addition, three primary defenders (Daniella Diaz, Stella Rubidoux, and Leila Etemadi) return for their final year.
