The soon-to-be 34-year-old Kittley enters his first head coaching campaign as the youngest in Division I college football. Despite his young age, Kittley has established himself as one of the masterminds of the Air Raid offense, where during his time as an offensive assistant, he has overseen the development of two-time NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes II as well as fellow professional quarterbacks Bailey Zappe and Davis Webb. In his seven seasons as an offensive coordinator, quarterback coach, and playcaller, Kittley's teams have averaged 457.3 yards and 34.8 points per game.
Veltkamp transferred to Florida Atlantic after three seasons at Western Kentucky. His breakout season in 2024 saw him earn the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year honors after throwing for 3,108 yards and scoring 32 total touchdowns. He led the Hilltoppers to an 8-5 record that culminated in an appearance in the 2024 Boca Raton Bowl. Veltkamp has received preseason recognition from multiple outlets including All-AAC Second Team by Phil Steele Magazine and Fourth Team All-AAC by Athlon Sports.
Langston enters his second season with the Owls. He made an appearance in all 12 games during the 2024 campaign and was a consistent presence on the defensive line.
The revamped Owls will take the field at noon on Saturday, Aug. 30 against Maryland on the Big Ten Network. AAC play begins on September 27 with the Owls hosting Memphis at Flagler Credit Union Stadium.
