Owls Launch Six Homers in Win Over UAB

THE BEGINNING
UAB ambushed Owls' ace Trey Beard for two hits, a walk, and a grand slam in the bottom of the first inning to take a 4-0 lead. The FAU offense picked up its starter in the second inning. Brando Leroux scored from third on a wild pitch, and Jake Millan launched a two-run blast to right field to cut the deficit to 4-3.
TURNING POINT
After tying the game on a John Schroeder solo homer in the fourth, the Owls took the lead for good with a big sixth inning, and they did it all with two outs. Brando Leroux singled, Nick Romano walked, and Dylan LaPointe was hit by a pitch. That forced a Blazers pitching change to righty Tyler Haines. Millan greeted the new arm with a grand slam on the first pitch he saw to make it 8-4. On the second pitch Haines threw, Carter Brady connected for his first home run of the season, pushing the Owls' lead to five, 9-4.
THE FINISH
Brady would add an RBI single in the eighth inning. In the ninth, the Owls went back-to-back for the second time when John Martinez and Schroeder each went deep. FAU took a 12-5 lead into the bottom of the ninth. Despite UAB launching its second grand slam of the game, MJ Bollinger was able to secure the final two outs to halt the comeback and earn his 10th save.
