BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic sophomore
NaShawn Tyson has earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tallahassee Regional, taking place May 12-14. Tyson will become the third FAU men's golfer to compete in NCAA postseason play, joining Kelly McHugh in 2009 and
Max Sturdza, who qualified for last season's Baton Rouge Regional.
Â
The regional will consist of three days and 54 holes of stroke play at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club, home of Florida State's men's and women's golf teams. The field will consist of 14 teams and five individuals. The top five teams and the low individual not on one of those teams will advance to the NCAA National Championship, May 23-28 at Omni Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
Â
On Tuesday, Tyson was named to the AAC All-Conference Team. The sophomore has seven Top 25 finishes in 10 events. He earned his first collegiate victory at the UNCW Seahawk Intercollegiate in March. Tyson led the Owls with a 71.55 scoring average.
