BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 22 Florida Atlantic softball team out-hit UCF 9-4 but ultimately fell in a 3-0 loss on Wednesday afternoon at FAU Softball Stadium.
Despite no runs, the Owls (15-3) had opportunities throughout the night with six runners in scoring position. UCF (13-6-1) took advantage on the other end with timely hits to secure their win.
Making the start in the circle, junior

Kylie Hammonds led off the bottom of the first inning with a single and ended up in scoring position thanks to a single from sophomore shortstop

Ainsley Lambert entered in relief the rest of the way, combining for 4.2 shutout innings. Following an error and a single, runners were on second and third base in the bottom of the seventh as the Owls looked to pull off their ninth comeback win of the season before the game ended on a groundout.
- Eight of the nine starting batters recorded a hit
- Hammonds led the way with two in the leadoff spot, her second straight multi-hit outing
- Freshman outfielder Bella Foran, ranked seventh in the nation in hits, is on a six-game streak and has recorded a hit in 13 out of her last 14 games
- Lambert leads the AAC in ERA (1.40)
- Courtney made her fifth appearance allowing no runs
The Owls travel to Tennessee for the Austin Peay Invitational from Feb. 28 to Mar. 2 before a weekday matchup on Monday, Mar. 3rd against Middle Tennessee (4-11).
