Owls Bust Into the Nation's Top-25

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women's tennis broke into the nation's national poll last week and used last week's win over a top-25 team, their second of 2025, to climb to No. 22 in this week's ITA National Ranking, which was announced on Tuesday afternoon.
The Owls, who are off to a 6-0 start, defeated a No. 23 Miami back on Jan. 16, and last week, the Owls knocked off No. 20 UCF by a score of 4-2. The 27-spot climb to No. 22 is the highest ITA national raking Florida Atlantic has achieved in program history. The women's tennis teams now joins two additional FAU teams ranked in the nation's top-25 with softball weighing in at No. 22 and beach volleyball being ranked No. 16 nationally.
As a team, Florida Atlantic has tallied a 21-3 singles mark with three Owls: senior Lexi Silna (5-0), newcomer Malwina Rowinska (5-0) and Millie-Mae Matthews (4-0) remaining perfect on the season, while no Owl has surrendered more than one match. They are near perfect in doubles play as well holding a 13-2 mark. Silna and Lara Smejkal lead the way at 6-0.
"This is a tremendous accomplishment for our program and a testament to the hard work put in by our girls and coaching staff along the way. Our team deserves this recognition and so much more. The girls understand that this ranking comes with added responsibility. We have a very mature team, and these girls are eager for more challenges ahead. I am excited to see what the future holds for them."
