No. 16 Sandy Owls Remain Perfect with Wins over Tampa and No. 13 Georgia State

TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 16-ranked Florida Atlantic Sandy Owls finished out the Sandy Spartan Showdown unbeaten, securing another pair of wins over host Tampa, 3-2, and earning their highest ranked win of the season over No. 13 Georgia State, 3-2.
The Sandy Owls remain perfect on the season at 4-0 and 1-0 in CUSA play. Tampa falls to 0-3 overall and Georgia State drops to 2-2 on the season.

The Panthers retook the lead 2-1 after taking another two-set battle on court three. Kate McLaughlin and Kendall Mignerey fell 21-19, 21-13 to Georgia State's Aliisa Vuorinen and Ella Mozeleski. Marketa Svozilova and Ashleigh Adams evened up the match once again with their fourth win of the season, taking a two-set win at the 1s over the Panthers' top pair of Destiny White and Savannah Ebarb, 21-18, 21-13. Julie Honzovicova and Klaire VanDeusen clinched the match for the Sandy Owls, closing out the dual with a straight-set sweep over Georgia State's Aree Keller and Ayla Johnson, 21-15, 21-16.

The Sandy Owls got on the board first as Sydney Schroder and Shantel Starling earned a straight-set sweep over Tampa's Anna Bayes and Brooke Green, 21-15, 21-15. The Spartans tied things up at 1-1 after earning their first point on court four. Kate Stoughton and Olivia Strandberg fell to Tampa's Sammie Ostrander and Meghan Schreck in two sets, 19-21, 14-21. Florida Atlantic answered back to retake the lead after a two-set win on court three. Kate McLaughlin and Kendall Mignerey secured their third win of the weekend in a straight-set victory over the Spartans' Hailey Peterson and Madelynn Hokanson, 21-16, 21-17. Florida Atlantic clinched the match at the 1s as Ashleigh Adams and Marketa Svozilova also picked up their third win of the weekend, defeating Tampa's top pair, Angel Williams and Elizabeth Price, in straight sets, 21-13, 21-17. Tampa closed out the match, earning its second point of the dual with a three-set win on court two as Julie Honzovicova and Klaire VanDeusen couldn't complete a comeback, falling 12-21, 21-19, 11-15 to the Spartans' Hailey Wolfe and Nevaeh Wolfe.Scores
