BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 18 Florida Atlantic softball team completed the final game of the Joan Joyce Classic on Sunday afternoon. Despite a strong offensive showing with 11 hits, the Owls fell short against the Louisville Cardinals by a score of 4-0.
The Owls (9-2) didn't go down without a fight, bringing the tying run to the plate twice in the final innings. leaving the bases loaded with two outs in the fifth, and again loading the bases with no outs in the seventh before the visitors escaped the jam.
In the circle for the Owls,
Jaden Martinez made her third start of the season. She delivered three straight innings and struck out three batters. Alyssa Zabala tossed a complete game for the visiting Cardinals, who improved to 7-3.
With the loss, FAU's record now stands at 9-2 as they close out their two home tournaments.

- Freshman OF Bella Foran extended her hit streak to seven games
- Sophomore IF Bella Cimino came off the bench to record her second hit of the season

The Owls plan to refocus and gear up for the next chapter of their 2025 campaign, hosting FIU on Wednesday, Feb. 19 and then head on the road for their upcoming weekend tournament at the Stetson Invitational.
