Owls Record Second Straight Century-Mark Win at the Elly

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic men's basketball team achieved a 105-79 victory over UAlbany on Saturday afternoon at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena, the first time in program history in which the team achieved the century mark in consecutive games.
In another coast-to-coast victory for the Owls (8-3), redshirt sophomore guard Devin Vanterpool and forward Devin Williams each had electric afternoons. Vanterpool scored a game-high 24 points while Williams added 13 to go with eight rebounds and five blocked shots.
FIRST HALF
Williams, entering the day tied for No. 4 nationally in blocks per game, got the Owls started with four in the first five minutes. A 13-0 run gave FAU a 16-3 lead.
A three-pointer from Vanterpool put Florida Atlantic up by 20 points, 28-8. The lead grew to 28, thanks to four consecutive shots from beyond the arc by four different players. The Owls ended the half with a 49-25 lead, their largest halftime advantage of the season.
FAU maintained control throughout the opening 20 minutes with a 56.7% shooting performance, while the defense held the Great Danes (3-9) to 29% from the field.
SECOND HALF
Momentum carried over for the offense in the second period, with the Owls shooting 55% from the field. Behind three triples from Vanterpool and multiple highlight dunks from Williams, the Devin duo combined for 22 points on 9-for-11 shooting from the field. The lead stretched to as much as 35 on a 13-0 run.
A capitalizing steal and slam dunk by sophomore forward Maxim Logue gave the Owls 101 with a little over a minute remaining.

- The Owls totaled a season-best 24 assists, led by redshirt junior guard Niccolo Moretti with six.
- Florida Atlantic converted 16 three-pointers, four more than its previous season high.
- Vanterpool scored 20+ points for the fourth time this season and reached a new collegiate best of five triples. He also recorded five rebounds, extending his streak to all 11 games on the season.
- Williams tied his season high with all five of his blocks coming in the first half alone. He also led the way on the glass with a season-high eight.
- Junior guard Kanaan Carlyle scored 13 points in his return from a two-game absence.
