BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic men's basketball team returns to Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena to host St. Bonaventure on Sunday, Nov. 30. Tipoff is at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
Fresh off an appearance in the Sunshine Slam championship, the Owls (5-2) will take on the Bonnies (6-1) for the second time in three years and for the first matchup of a home-and-home series, with FAU traveling to St. Bonaventure the following season.

LAST TIME OUT
Participating in the four-team Sunshine Slam's Beach Bracket in Daytona Beach, the Owls defeated LMU by a score of 76-65 before falling in the championship game to George Mason, 74-65. Junior guard
Kanaan Carlyle recorded back-to-back 20+ point outings while redshirt sophomore guard
Devin Vanterpool averaged 15.5 points to go with 8.0 rebounds per game and 3.5 assists on his way to being named to the all-tournament team.
ABOUT THE OWLS
- Head Coach John Jakus is in his second season at the helm of the program. In his debut campaign in 2024-25, he was a finalist for the Joe B. Hall Award, given to the nation's top first-year head coach. Under Jakus' watch, the Owls participated in their fourth straight year of postseason play, selected to the 2025 National Invitational Tournament.
- FAU boasts eight international players. In total, the Owls are represented by seven different countries: the United States, Canada, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Senegal, and France.
- Returning for the Owls are Vanterpool, redshirt junior guard Niccolo Moretti, and redshirt freshman guards Amar Amkou, Liam Dayco-Green, and Max Langenfeld.
- The Owls welcome 10 newcomers: four true freshmen, four from the transfer portal, and two international players.
- Carlyle has reached the 20+ point mark in three consecutive games, the first Florida Atlantic player to do so since Vlad Goldin in March of 2024. He leads the team at 16.6 points per game.
- Vanterpool has had a career-best start to the season, second on FAU in points per game (16.0), while leading in rebounds per game (6.9), assists per game (3.3), and steals (1.4). Against Coastal Georgia, he scored 30 points, the first Owl since Johnell Davis in January of 2024.
- The Owls are 12th in the nation in blocks per game (6.0). Leading the category individually is redshirt sophomore forward Devin Williams at 2.6 per game. He has recorded multiple in six out of seven appearances.
- Guard Josiah Parker was named the American Conference's Preseason Freshman of the Year.
- Florida Atlantic was ranked sixth in the American's preseason poll.
ABOUT THE BONNIES
- Mark Schmidt is in his 19th season with the program, tied for the 13th-longest current tenure among Division I head coaches.
- The Bonnies are led by Darryl "Buddy" Simmons II. The 5'11 junior guard is averaging a team-best 16.9 points per game while shooting 40.5% from three-point range.
- Frank Mitchell, a senior transfer forward previously at Minnesota, is top 30 in the country in rebounds per game at 10.1
- As a team, the Bonnies are averaging 5.7 blocks per game, tied for 18th nationwide.
- St. Bonaventure's lone loss this season has come against nationally ranked North Carolina.
- The Owls and the Bonnies last faced off in December of 2023, with FAU winning by a score of 64-54 to even the all-time series at 1-1. St. Bonaventure won the first meeting in 2019.
